Lovely autumn scene, biting winter chill

Snow is in the air today. Good reminder to catch up on fall activities while I still can.

Last week

In winter here, everything is monochromatic. The pictures I took last weekare indicative of a snowy day - gray, black, blah. Yes, it's pretty sometimes, and comforting and fun. But by late February/early March, I'm ready for it to be over.

I spoke to MB last week and she mentioned how her family was teasing her about keeping her ice scraper in her car. She did manage to get rid of the small shovel, but she couldn't part with the scraper. She thought she was being practical since it does still flurry and ice up at times in GA. I keep mine in my car year round. You just never know!

Oh, winter

Around the beginning of March, winter starts to seem like it will never end. Thoughts of warm nights strolling through town without a coat on dance freely around in my head. I want to leave the windows in the apartment open to get some fresh air and I want even more to put away all these pairs of winter boots!

Unfortunately, nature doesn't care about those frivolous wishes. And just to show me how much she doesn't care, she dumps some more snow on us.

Telltale ice scraper and dirty floor mats are common to every New Englander's car.

Pile after pile after pile....
(what's going on with the lines in the lines in this picture?)

This week's theme: driving

In honor of the very long journey MB is about to make, she should have plenty of material to take pictures of for this week's theme: driving.

I love to drive. Love to crank up the music and sing at the top of my lungs, I love when it's warm enough to have the windows down, driving far and fast. I never really get anywhere on my drives, other than down the road, to the beach, to a better mindframe. I find reasons to drive even when I don't need to be anywhere. Not the most environmentally sound hobby, certainly, but I love it anyway.

Bon voyage, MB. Enjoy the road ahead.

The thin red string

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break." -- Ancient Chinese Belief
